Which Paint Rack? The Full Comparison

The best paint rack for Citadel pots is the Citadel Rack 44 (or the Combo 77 with its riser gallery), cut for 32mm pots with labels facing forward. The best 3D-printed paint rack for dropper bottles in Australia is the Paint Rack 60 — it covers the average collection, and most buyers choose it. Thirteen racks, one decision. This is the complete Formada3D paint storage range on one page — capacities, footprints, drawers and prices — with a short decision path at the end. Every rack arrives finished: no glue, no clamps, no assembly evening. Printed to order in Melbourne and shipped Australia-wide.

And the accessories that clip onto the family: the clip-on Brush Holder ($12.99), a Pin-Canal cup that snaps onto any rack; the Rotating Brush Carousel ($24.99), a two-tier spinning drum for 30+ brushes and tools; and for the Wall Rack 38, the Under-Drawer ($24.99) or Double Under-Drawer ($29.99) pedestal, which turns the wall rack into a freestanding desk unit with drawers underneath.

The rotating Carousel — 57 bottles, spin the colour you need to the front.

How to choose in five questions

1. Pots or droppers?

Citadel/P3/SMS pots → Paint Rack 44, or Combo 77 if you already own more than 44 of them. Dropper bottles → keep reading. Both → one of each, or the Tower Flat-Pack Kit, whose top plate has six universal wells that take a Citadel pot or a dropper bottle natively (see our pots vs droppers guide).

2. How many bottles do you own today?

Under 15 and you have an IKEA pegboard → SKÅDIS Paint Shelf ($29.99). Under ~30 → Rack 35. 30–60 → Rack 60. 60–100 → Combo 98 or Combo 84. Over 100 → Tower + Riser Gallery, which is the only thing in the range that goes to 106.

Or spread the cost. Buy the rack now and add the Riser Display Stand later for $19.99 — it clips onto the top of a Rack 60 or a Wall Rack 38 and adds 38 bottles. Rack 60 + riser later costs the same as Combo 98 today, so there is no penalty for waiting.

3. Is bench space the bottleneck?

The Wall Rack 38 moves 38 bottles and a drawer onto the wall on three keyhole hangers. If you want the wall option and the capacity, Combo 84 puts 84 bottles on a footprint just 122 mm deep — or hangs the whole assembly and uses no bench at all. That is the most paint per centimetre of desk in the range. Get the Combo 84 →

4. Awkward corner to fill?

The Carousel 57 is round and rotates, so it lives happily in the dead corner of an L-desk where a straight rack would face the wall. For a corner you want to build upwards instead, the Tower Flat-Pack Kit (up to 68) and the Tower + Riser Gallery (up to 106) stand on roughly 284 × 300 mm.

5. Renting, or can't drill?

Everything above except the Wall Rack sits on a desk with no fixings at all. If you want height without touching a wall, the Gallery Ladder is a freestanding tower on a weighted base plinth — shelves click in at any height, 15 droppers or 11 Citadel pots per shelf, and you choose the shelf mix at checkout. Get the Gallery Ladder →

Wall Rack 38 — 38 droppers and a hidden drawer, zero bench space.
Still unsure? Paint Rack 60. It is the rack most painters end up with: 60 bottles, a smaller-than-A4 footprint, a hidden magnetic drawer, and a documented upgrade path — add the $19.99 riser whenever you outgrow it and you are at 98 bottles for the same total as the combo.

Frequently asked questions

Do all racks come in the same colours?

They share the same colour palette, so a multi-rack workstation matches — each listing shows the current options.

Is assembly required?

Desk racks ship ready to use — the drawer just slides in. The riser is a flat-pack kit. The wall rack hangs on its three keyhole slots.

Can the riser go on any rack?

The riser is designed for Paint Rack 60 (making the 98-bottle Combo) and can also be added on top of the Wall Rack 38.

Do you ship outside Australia?

Australia-wide shipping is $11 standard or $15 express, and US orders ship for a $20 flat rate. Everything is printed to order in Melbourne, usually on its way in 3–5 days.

Which paint rack do most people buy?

Paint Rack 60. Sixty bottles covers the average collection, the footprint is smaller than a sheet of A4, and if the collection grows you add the Riser later instead of replacing the rack.

Are these cheaper than importing a rack from overseas?

Usually once shipping is counted, yes — US-made racks typically add US$25–40 postage to Australia and take weeks. These print in Melbourne in 3–5 days and ship for $11.
